(PAIS 300) Framing the Cultures of Oceania

The course focuses on Pacific cultures especially “the Pacific Way” in the context of identity, values, and ways of looking at different issues. Specific areas include indigenous leadership and protocol focusing on the chieftain system, land tenure, and social adaptation and globalization. Special ceremonies related to the culture will be covered including marriage, funerals, kava, and other celebrations.
