Course Outcomes

1. Study historical art objects as evidence of the human quest for identity and aesthetic appreciation.
2. Gain knowledge of the historical philosophical and religious foundations of the arts as well as modern and contemporary developments of the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas.
3. Study the methodologies of biography and iconography and gain an understanding of more methodologies including Colonialism, Post-Colonialism, Orientalism, Marxism, Feminism, Psychoanalysis, and Semiology.
4. Become familiar with various texts as they conduct research and write a research paper and present their research to the class.
