Course Outcomes
- Reading:
• Read and process academic texts efficiently, noting length, complexity, and time constraints. - Listening:
• Students will be able to listen to and process academic discourse (e.g. lectures, presentations, videos, etc.). - Speaking:
• Students will be able to participate orally in both whole-class and small-group settings. - Writing:
• Students will be able to write in academically appropriate ways. - Vocabulary:
• Students will know many of the frequently occurring words on the Academic Word List (AWL). - Grammar:
• Students will be able to write in academically appropriate ways. - Learner Autonomy:
• Develop strategies for vocabulary learning which increases reading speed and comprehension in academic texts.
• Complete two hours of extensive reading each week
