(SSAC 160) Beginning Swimming

Course designed for the non-swimmer, and those wanting to develop their swimming and survival skills in the water.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will gain the knowledge and the ability to apply the techniques of Core Body Balance swimming. This will be developed through practice and through learning a series of techniques. Student knowledge will be measured through in-water swim quizzes. There will be pre- and post-swim tests given to measure a student’s progress over time. By the completion of this course, students will develop the ability to swim effortlessly and effectively knowing the following basic skills: front and back float, front and back glides, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, treading water, deck dive, use of mask and snorkel and lastly, if time permits, introduction to side stroke and breaststroke.
