(BIOL 442L) Cellular Biology Laboratory
This course provides hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture as a central tool in cell biology. Students will learn fundamental techniques to maintain and manipulate mammalian cultures: aseptic techniques, cell passaging, cryopreservation, viability assays, transfection, and others.

Course Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate proficiency in mammalian cell culture techniques by safely performing aseptic technique, media preparation, routine subculturing, cryopreservation, and long-term maintenance of mammalian cell lines.
- Apply appropriate laboratory instrumentation and safety practices to culture, observe, and manipulate mammalian cells using biosafety cabinets, CO₂ incubators, light and fluorescent microscopes, hemocytometers, and cryogenic storage systems.
- Analyze quantitative cell culture data by determining cell concentration, viability, growth characteristics, and transfection efficiency, and interpreting results in the context of experimental objectives.
- Communicate experimental findings clearly and professionally through accurate laboratory notebook documentation and formal written lab reports that present results, figures, and conclusions according to accepted scientific standards.
