(CHEM 490R) Current Topics in Chemistry and Biochemistry

Special topics course in which students will learn how to engage, evaluate, and understand current scientific research literature and then how to convey their understanding both orally and in writing. Each section will contain an instructor-selected Chemistry or Biochemistry theme for study.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn to read and evaluate scientific research articles.
  2. Learn to formalize objective opinions and conclusions from both reading an article and participating in group discussions.
  3. Analyze and interpret scientific data.
  4. Be able to convey scientific findings and evaluations both orally and in written form.
