Supervised individual or group mentored research that provides students with an opportunity to engage in research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor, fostering skill development and research experience within the field of computer science.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Identify a research topic or problem in computer science, in collaboration with a faculty mentor.
  • Develop a research plan, including objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes, under the guidance of the faculty mentor.
  • Apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills to conduct research and collect data within the scope of the chosen topic.
  • Analyze research findings, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on the results.
  • Communicate research findings effectively through written reports, presentations, or other appropriate means.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty mentors, peers, and other stakeholders involved in the research process.
  • Reflect on the mentored research experience, identifying areas of growth, challenges encountered, and lessons learned.
