Skills in conflict transformation and reconciliation as a third-party mediator. Particular attention is given to multi-cultural techniques and disputes.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should have gained the following knowledge, skills, and attitudes:

  1. Understand the theory behind mediation practice
  2. Develop the ability to apply those theories to simulated conflicts in class
  3. Obtain a mediation skill set that allows students to do pre-mediation, conflict mapping, active listening, reframing, and collaborative problem solving
  4. Develop the confidence and ability to use those skills in real-world settings upon completion of the course.
