(IT 420) System Administration
This course builds on foundational system administration skills, focusing on advanced techniques for setting up and managing systems on existing networks. Topics covered include boot process, encryption, storage options, system hardening, scheduling future tasks, and scripting. Students will develop essential systems administration abilities, research software-specific issues, and hone problem-solving skills relevant to advanced system administration tasks.

Course Learning Outcomes
Each student who passes this course will be able to do the following:
- Install, configure, secure, and troubleshoot server software in complex environments.
- Explore the many levels of firewalls and other security features to better improve the system. These include host and network-based firewalls selinux, and more.
- Troubleshoot and resolve specific issues, employing critical thinking and problem-solving skills relevant to advanced system administration.
- Develop a foundational understanding of complex systems and assess potential software solutions to address system administration challenges.
