(MATH 100) Quantitative Reasoning Preparation
A practical course directed toward applications of mathematics. Deals with percent, areas, volumes, proportions, statistics, etc. The student also becomes well acquainted with the metric system and the U.S. Common system.

Course Outcomes
Gain a good understanding of the following concepts:
- Problem-solving with units: unit conversions with US customary and metric systems.
- Numbers in the real world: percentages, CPI, Simpson’s Paradox.
- The power of compounding—compound interest for savings and loans
- Statistical tables and graphs.
- Measures of center: mean, median, mode. Measures of spread: range, standard deviation, Five number summary, boxplots.
- Linear and exponential growth: doubling time, half-life, earthquakes, sounds, acids.
- Modeling: applications of linear and exponential functions.
