(HHS 350) Health Tourism

A course exploring the study of health tourism including its history and development, how to manage and market health tourism, the international industry of health and wellness, and the development of health destinations. Students with a desire to work in any form of medicine, wellness, insurance/healthcare industry professionals, tourism, hospitality, or management may benefit from this course. This course will provide a unique international pathway for students to share core knowledge in health and human science while learning critical management and marketing skills for health tourism.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

  1. Communicate effectively their knowledge of health tourism to serve other people with professional-like work experiences.
  2. Understand the industry of health tourism and learn how to analyze, market, and brand health tourism in different geographical areas.
  3. Understand the importance of well-being and incorporate health promotion/disease prevention/treatment strategies for specific populations as they relate to health tourism.
