A creativity-focused introduction to recording and editing audio, the art of mixing, using DAW software, using MIDI controllers and virtual instruments, multitracking, and composing for visual media.

Course Learning Outcomes

Each student who passes this course will be able to do the following:

  1. Effectively use microphones, audio interfaces, and sound isolation techniques.
  2. Record and edit audio inside DAW software.
  3. Mix music using EQ, compression, delay, reverb, and other effects..
  4. Input and edit MIDI notation using MIDI hardware controllers.
  5. Use MIDI-based virtual instruments to compose and arrange music.
  6. Create multitrack music blending original audio, MIDI, and Foley.
  7. Compose original music for visual media and animation inside a DAW.
