(ART 270) Typography

A studio class introducing students to typographic letterforms and practical knowledge of computer typesetting. Students develop expertise with the aesthetic aspects of letterforms, words, and lines of text as they relate to the visual arrangement of a printed page.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Become familiar with concepts such as letterform anatomy, classification, legibility, inter letter and interword spacing and alignment, hierarchy, and sequencing of text as images.
  2. Learn the history of typography.
