(IT 482) Ethical Hacking

This course covers advanced topics in information security from an ethical hacking perspective, exploring systems, information flow and protection, computer viruses and malware, intrusion detection models, multi-level security, forensics, network firewalls, cryptography, e-commerce support, and database security. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of security requirements and acquire hands-on experience working with various security tools.

Course Learning Outcomes

Each student who passes this course will be able to do the following:

  • Understand the importance of information security and the various considerations for securing a system effectively.
  • Acquire hands-on experience working with security tools and technologies for system protection, intrusion detection, and forensics analysis.
  • Evaluate and implement network firewalls, cryptography, and database security measures to enhance overall system security.
  • Understand the Ethical questions around the different types of hacking.
