(BUSM 461) Lean Six Sigma (Process Improvement)

This course teaches skills for successfully leading process improvement projects that can enhance organizational performance. Lean Six Sigma methodology is taught through example and application. Near the conclusion of the course, students will take a certification exam.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to execute a process improvement project (from start to finish) using the DMAIC lifecycle and apply tools and techniques for process improvement, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Process maps and SIPOC diagrams
  • Cause-and-effect diagrams
  • X-Y diagrams
  • Statistical process control
  • Failure modes and effects analysis
  • Multi-variate analysis
  • Pareto analysis
  • Measurement system analysis
  • Cost of poor quality
