Offers views of Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia as we read a cross-section of literary works (novels, poetry, short stories) from the region.

Course Outcomes

1. To understand the diversity of the Pacific region and how it manifests itself in literary texts.
2. To analyze Pacific literary texts as cultural productions rising out of specific historical, literary and cultural contexts and vice versa(that literary texts are created within specific political/cultural/historical situations).
3. To contribute to the ongoing discussion of Pacific literary discourse through persuasive, evidence-driven literary/cultural analysis (papers) as well as the dissemination of information about the Pacific region and literary texts coming out of it.
