(BIOL 248) Conservation Biology

Human impacts on biological diversity and measures to prevent extinction of species. Classroom and field experience will focus on current topics in terrestrial and aquatic systems with an emphasis on Hawaiian and other Pacific systems.

Course Learning Outcomes

1. Describe basic conservation concepts and practices.
2. Illustrate how those concepts are applied in the field by interpreting data and evaluating conservation projects.
3. Solve conservation related problems in case studies and present solutions in writing.
4. Interpret and evaluate scientific literature in the field of conservation biology.
