(IT 320) System Administration Essentials
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of essential system administration concepts and techniques. Topics covered include system configuration, access control, file systems, security, administration, logging, networking, and installation. Students will gain practical experience through hands-on exercises and real-world examples, enabling them to effectively manage and maintain various IT systems.

Course Learning Outcomes
Each student who passes this course will be able to do the following:
- Connect to systems using a secure shell, in a secure way, with private and public key setup, and modify text files on a Linux command line.
- Monitor system components and processes.
- Recognize and mitigate common security threats using appropriate software, hardware, and best practices to minimize vulnerability to attacks.
- Demonstrate practical skills in system administration, including system configuration, access control, file system management, and user management.
